The Universities Network in Solidarity with the Five, based at the Jose Antonio Echeverria Instituto Superior Politecnico (Cujae), is joining on Tuesday in the second Five Days for the Cuban Five event, being held in the U.S. capital to create awareness about the case of the Cuban Five.

The usual La Casa de los Cinco cultural show, which takes place on the third Thursday of each month, has moved to today to tie up the activities in Cuba with thousands of friends and supporters who have come to the White House to demand the immediate release of the Five.

As part of the program of activities, which the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples is also organizing, Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada will present The last soldiers of the Cold War, a book chronicling little known aspects of the trial and the life of Gerardo, Ramón, Fernando, Antonio and René.

In this event for denunciation, and solidarity for the good causes in the world, also a celebration of the 48th birthday of Gerardo and 50th of Ramón, the Young Communist League and the Federation of University Students will join, making a special tribute to the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters as part of their Eighth Congress.

International support for the Five, and also respect for the Cuban people and government, has grown during this second Event in Washington DC, with a large attendance of delegates from many countries in the activities being held in that city in support of the cause of the Cuban Five.
