At the zenith of his career, he was described as the third most powerful figure in Cuba after the Castro brothers. Hardtalk speaks to Ricardo Alarcon who – until last year – was president of Cuba’s parliament, the National Assembly. A veteran on the political and diplomatic scene, he is a former foreign minister and long-time ambassador for Cuba to the United Nations. He still wields a great deal of influence and now spends most of his time campaigning for the release of three Cubans jailed in USprisons..
