While the United States is making a scandal about the supposed Russian intervention in social networks to influence the 2016 elections won by Donald Trump, today evidence has been uncovered that the US government is using Facebook to spread fake news about Cuba and clandestinely foment dissidence on the island.

The Florida weekly Miami New Times revealed Wednesday that it had access to documents from the government’s Office of Broadcasting to Cuba (OCB), run by Radio and TV Martí. It reveals that the Trump administration has been using Facebook accounts for two years that appear “native” (from real people on the island) to spread propaganda without informing Cuban Facebook users that it is government advertising.

According to the report obtained by the weekly , due to the failure of Radio and TV Martí,

the OCB’s strategy has focused on an offensive through social networks…

Nueva “fake news” contra #Cuba

December 21, 2018

Santiago Arde

Roberto Morales Ojeda, vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, said that the country will end this year with the lowest infant mortality rate in history, which today is 3.9 per 1,000 live births.

In the Permanent Commission of Health and Sport Work, which precedes the II Ordinary Session of the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of the People’s Power, underway in the Conventions Center of Havana, Morales Ojeda spoke of the challenges of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) in the face of the accelerated aging of the population, since currently 20.1 percent of the population is 60 years old or older.

In that standing commission, chaired by Doctor Cristina Luna, the Cuban Vice President also referred to the serious problem with the birth rate in the island, resistance to antimicrobials, and issues related to climate change and health, among…

Cuban Doctors in Remain in Mandera as Local doctors Flee From Al-Shabab

Two Cuban doctors working in Mandera County have been forced to work on their own after their counterparts fled the area for fear of terror attacks.

The two; Dr. Herera Correa, a general practitioner and Dr. Landy Rodriguez, a surgeon; are however determined to stay put.

Dr. Correa sees 20 patients per day during his eight-hour shift while Dr. Rodriguez handles about 10 surgical procedures daily; they are on call 24 hours a day.

Local medics recently left in droves due to the threat posed by Al-Shabaab.

We have worked in far worse conditions

“Before I came here, I checked the internet and saw that Mandera is very dangerous with frequent attacks from Al Shabaab but we have worked in far worse conditions,”said Dr. Rodriguez.

The two Cuban doctors say they have already started learning Kiswahili and Somali…

The President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers condemned in a tweet the document published by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on December

The President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers condemned in a tweet the document published by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on December 10, in which he accuses the Cuban government of violating human rights.

The Cuban leader described U.S. discourse on this issue as hypocritical, dishonest, and indicative of double standards, emphasizing that the U.S. has no moral authority whatsoever to talk about the issue, when it has imposed a prolonged economic, commercial, and financial blockade on Cuba, which constitutes a massive, cruel violation of human rights.

“While others export weapons and wars, Cuba shares knowledge and services. Our doctors and teachers have illuminated, and are illuminating, remote regions. Our currency is solidarity,” Díaz-Canel insisted.
