Ramon Labañino Ratifies Decision to Fight till Victory

– Ramon Labañino, one of the five Cubans serving long prison sentences in the U.S. for fighting terrorism, ratified his and companions’ intentions to fight until victory.

“In defense of invincible truth which we will never give up, we will continue in this struggle until final victory,” he said in a message to VI Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, underway in Mexico City since Thursday, reported Prensa Latina news agency.

Elizabeth Palmeiro, wife of Ramón, read the message in the forum, on behalf of this hero and his brothers-at-arms: Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, the latter released on Friday, but who will have to spend three years in the U.S. on “supervised release”.

The text states that Rene is now denied the legitimate right to join his family in his homeland after 13 years of harsh and unjust imprisonment.

Ramon says in his meassge: “This is the time to raise our arms and voices with more strength for the U.S. government to send him to Cuba, with his daughters, wife and parents, not to punish him cruelly, to leave him in this country risking his life unnecessarily.”

“Gerardo, whom the punishment has been already extreme, is denied and made difficult any legal process, and they don´t even want to hear from his mouth the truth they try to shut down,” reads the message.

“The five of us feel strong and optimistic. The darkest hour is just before the dawn. We know it will be the hands and minds of brothers and sisters, as you all gathered here, which will bring us to the free homeland we love so much” he wrote.

The meeting will conclude on Sunday with a massive march through the streets of Mexico City. (acn oct 9 )
