Cuba cannot develop while it remains isolated and blockaded, said Cuban terrorism-fighter René González in an interview published by the journal La Jornada, adding “it is up to us to keep building the Socialist society chosen by the people”.
About the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States, said that the U.S. government had recognized that the 55-year-old blockade had not worked.
This is a challenging moment, but filled with opportunities, he stressed.
Gonzalez said that countries should relate in a civilized manner, beyond their differences.
“I have been thinking about what is crossing the minds of those people who spent so much money and effort to hurt Cuba, who committed so many crimes. They are the main defeated right now”.
Gonzalez, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, recently visited Mexico to thank the support received in this country to the fight for the Cuban Five.
