Brazil celebrates 2nd anniversary of the ‘More Doctors’ Program

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff today presided over the celebration of two years of the implementation of the “More Doctors” program in Brazil, which has brought health care to 63 million people.

dilma rousseff 2nd anniversary more doctors programWith a total of 18,240 physicians, of which 11,487 are Cubans, “More Doctors” is present in 34 special indigenous districts, and 4,058 municipalities, representing 72.8 percent of the cities of Brazil, Health Minister, Arthur Chioro, stressed.

With this program, “we had a huge expanding in the access to health, particularly among the poorest, those most affected by social inequality; those who need more of the Unified Health System (public),” Chioro emphasized.
